Why One Bad Thought Can Hijack Your Whole Day Right Now

Hello my friend Reader,

Has this happened to you lately?

Someone says something and you take it so personally that it absorbs your entire day, or you catch yourself replaying a mistake from three days ago, and it just won't leave.

It is on a repeated loop.

By 4 pm it's not a passing thought anymore, it's the lens you're seeing your whole day through.

You tell yourself to let it go.

You can’t.

Because I don’t know about you but I am still working on being able to let things go on demand.

Here's what I want you to know and what I often remind myself. This is not you being "too sensitive" or "too in your head."

In Chinese medicine, your emotional self and your thinking mind aren't run by two separate systems.

They live in the same house, the Heart, which holds what we call the Shen, your spirit, your clarity, your sense of being present in your own life.

Because those two are so tightly connected, women can hold an enormous amount in the mind at once.

It's actually a gift, the same wiring that lets you track five people's needs, a deadline, and what's for dinner all at the same time.

But it goes both ways.

A negative or self-critical thought doesn't just pass through. It gets pulled into that same busy system, and if it circles enough times, it stops being "a thought I had" and becomes something anchored underneath, in the subconscious.

And right now, in perimenopause, this gets harder to shake off.

The Heart doesn't hold the Shen alone. It depends on a steady line to the Kidneys, your deepest reserve.

When Jing is full, that Heart-Kidney line is strong and thoughts move through you the way they used to.

But Jing is exactly what's declining right now.

With less underneath you, a thought that would have passed in an hour a decade ago can now be on repeat for days.

This is why it's not "just aging" and it's not "just estrogen." And it's why another supplement or a new mindset script often doesn't touch it, because the problem isn't attitude.

Try this tonight:

Get to bed by 10 pm. Deep, restorative sleep before midnight is when Jing is replenished, not the eighth hour of sleep, the first two.

Add eat one essence-building food today. Black sesame seeds, walnuts, eggs, or a slow-cooked bone broth. Small and repeated beats a dramatic overhaul.

One more thing to try tonight, when a thought is looping and won't quit:

Find acupressure point Anmian, "peaceful sleep," behind your ear, in the soft hollow between your earlobe and the bone at the base of your skull.

Press gently with two fingers and hold for 60 seconds, breathing slowly. It's one of the most direct points in Chinese medicine for quieting an overactive mind and interrupting a thought that's stuck on repeat.

Think of it like pressing the reset button.

All in good health,

Jeanettexoxo

P.S. If a specific thought has been looping for you lately, hit reply and tell me what it's about. I'm curious whether it's tied to something you're carrying for someone else, that's usually what I find is the root of it.
