Her Balanced Life

I cried over a lime this morning

Hello my friend Reader,

Yesterday, I picked the first lime from my lime tree in my backyard.

When I squeezed that first lime into my glass of water, the tears came unexpectedly.

For a Canadian kid who grew up with snow blanketing the ground eight months of the year, where planting season was a fleeting window of possibility, this moment felt nothing short of miraculous.

It was the best lime I'd ever tasted.

I was overwhelmed with gratitude for this small, powerful gift from the earth, for being in a position to pick it right from my own backyard, for the simple miracle of growth and abundance.

Gratitude has a way of catching us off guard in the most ordinary moments.

It reminds us that we're alive, that we're connected to something larger than ourselves, that even the smallest offerings from nature carry profound meaning.

When we pause long enough to truly receive what's in front of us, a lime, a sunrise, a kind word, we tap into something sacred.

Gratitude isn't just a feeling; it's a practice of presence. It's the recognition that life is constantly offering us gifts.

And here's something beautiful: gratitude actually changes us from the inside out.

Studies show it rewires our brains for greater happiness, strengthens our relationships, and improves our physical health.

Here's what most people don't know about limes:

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, they're considered a gentle nurturer for women in perimenopause:

Moves Liver Qi – Smooths stagnant energy that triggers irritability, mood swings, and breast tenderness

Supports Digestion – Stimulates digestive flow, easing bloating and heaviness after meals

Clears Heat – Their cooling nature helps calm hot flashes, night sweats, and restlessness

Detoxifies and Refreshes – Supports the Liver and Gallbladder in clearing toxins for clearer skin and better energy

Nourishes Fluids – Generates body fluids to soothe dryness (dry mouth, eyes, skin)

Sometimes, the simplest rituals, like squeezing a lime into water, can be the most healing.

Today, I invite you to find your own "lime moment."

What small gift is life offering you right now?

What simple pleasure deserves your full attention and appreciation?

Let yourself be moved by the ordinary magic that surrounds you.

Because gratitude isn't just about the big milestones.

It's about the little reminders that you're exactly where you're meant to be rooted.

All in good health,

Jeanettexoxo
